Le Papillon
The murals at 455 Hyde Street, collectively known as Le Papillon, tell the story of the family tree of San Francisco’s butterflies. On the 12-story north and east walls, One Monarch, depicts a single monarch flying toward the state flower, the California poppy. On the south wall, Butterflies and Poppies showcases representatives from the five families of butterflies found in San Francisco. On the entryway and the garage, a pattern of poppies is overlaid with all 34 species of San Francisco’s butterflies.
