Occidental College

When Occidental College undertook a remodel of its Anderson Center for Environmental Sciences, the school asked Ink Dwell to create a sweeping two-floor mural that tells a Southern California sea-to-sky story celebrating the work of the university’s ornithology and marine sciences departments.

On the first floor, adjacent to the Vantuna Research Group’s marine studies department, Ink Dwell created murals that represent Southern California’s kelp forests, wetlands, and the California Southern Bight, highlighted by the Channel Islands.

On the second floor, adjacent to the Moore Lab of Zoology, Ink Dwell told a story of the region’s terrestrial ecosystems, including both chaparral and urban environments, and their relationships to the ocean.
