Steelhead Entry depicts the male and female steelhead’s return to a freshwater ecosystem after years at sea. The fish swim into the building–encouraging visitors to follow–up a stylized river inspired by suminagashi, the Japanese art of paper marbling symbolizing landscapes and transitions. On the adjacent wall, a map of a Northern California river system portrays the steelhead’s habitat while complimenting the themes of suminagashi.
